The Cornerstone Legacy

At Cornerstone, we’re more than a financial firm. We’re a family, both in name and in how we serve. Brett grew up at the dinner table talking markets with his dad, Kim, a seasoned advisor who brings decades of experience and a calming, “bedside manner” rooted in a family of medical professionals. Together, they blend old-school values with modern insight, creating a firm built on trust, empathy, and long-term relationships.

From college athletes to client advocates, both Brett and Kim are driven by discipline, care, and a deep commitment to guiding families through every financial chapter. Whether it’s a starter portfolio or legacy planning, their hands-on approach means no jargon, no commissions—just clear, transparent guidance and genuine connection. At Cornerstone, your story becomes part of our family legacy.

Kim W. Suchy

Kim W. Suchy brings 30 years of investment management experience to his role as CEO and Founder of Cornerstone Asset Management. With a career dedicated to helping families, foundations, and pensions navigate complex global markets, Kim is known for turning intricate capital market dynamics into clear, actionable strategies.

Kim’s investment philosophy begins with a global, macro perspective anchored by strict valuation discipline, a balanced approach that seeks to protect and grow client assets over the long term. Clients value his transparency, humility, and steady voice; qualities rooted in the bedside manner he developed growing up in a family of medical professionals.

Before founding Cornerstone, Kim held senior leadership roles across the financial industry. He began his career as an Economist at Argonne National Laboratory/University of Chicago where he developed energy feasibility studies.  Kim directed financial planning, shareholder services and pension oversight at Central Maine Power and managed a $1.5B global pension fund for 33,000 employees as Investment Manager at the Blue Cross & Blue Shield Association. He then led business development and investment strategy for high-net-worth families, endowments and foundations for LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO’s Wealth Management Group and most recently at William Blair & Company.

Kim holds a BA in Economics from DePauw University, an MA in Economics from DePaul University, and an MBA from Benedictine University. Outside the office, he’s an avid golfer, lifelong Chicago Blackhawks fan, and former college football player who still cheers on his alma mater on Saturdays. Kim resides in Naples, Florida and Western Springs, Illinois, where family is his greatest pride; especially his two children, Brett and Laura, and his grandchildren, Alexandra and Connor.

Snoop is fueled by curiosity, questionable decisions, and what we’ve come to call Snoopisms. His day-to-day responsibilities include target practice during walks, testing boundaries, and messing with his sister to see if the rules have changed since yesterday.

He thrives in uncertainty, loves poking at the edges of systems, and has a gift for surfacing things others miss. Snoop believes exploration comes first, structure comes later, and that chaos is just data you haven’t organized yet.

Skye provides the veteran canine presence. Calm, measured, and increasingly selective with her energy, she now focuses on oversight rather than execution. She likes squirrels, clear boundaries, and wandering calmly into what can only be described as “no man’s land.”

As the firm’s unofficial referee, Skye allows a controlled amount of chaos, but only up to a point. When Snoop crosses the line, she restores canine order with a look that says, enough market volatility for today. She represents experience, perspective, and the value of knowing when to slow the game down.

Known For:
• Maintaining balance
• Drawing boundaries
• Letting things play out
• Shutting it down when needed
